Don't forget this important checkin....

After holidays, I often like to invite myself and my clients to pause and check in.

Depending on where you are living, Mother’s Day celebrations are usually in March or May. 40+ countries have an annual celebration of mothers.

And these celebrations can be glorious and/or complicated, to down right horrible….

So….since last Sunday was our celebration, it’s fresh on my mind…

And fresh on many of my client’s minds…

And we are feeling it in our bodies…

So, whether Mother’s Day just happened or happened a couple months ago,

I invite you to consider and take just a moment to check in with you, and ask yourself, “How am I doing?”

Did I have narratives that came up before, during or after Mother’s Day?

How is my body doing? Do I have....

Sensations or visceral responses of:

tightness, constriction, holding breath, shallow breathing or fast breathing, a slow or fast heart rate, a letting go, a release, a disconnect or reconnect….

Feelings of:

sadness, grief, heartache, shame, guilt, anxiety, not enough, doing it wrong, joy, delight, gratitude, love, fun, laughter…

What else would you add?

The before, during and after can be:

Days to heal From..

Days to heal On

Days to heal Through

Days to heal Because of

Days to Celebrate

Days to Celebrate healing

Days to Ignore, Avoid or Whatever else may need to happen…

How is your mind, body, heart connection feeling right now?

I invite a Full Body Scan tool as part of this check up.

As you read through the text of this scan, I invite you to actively follow along and see what your body has to tell you....

Full Body Scan

I invite you to pause and take a deep breathe, Inhale, Exhale,

How does your body feel right now?

And then, I invite you to notice your feet on the ground…how does it feel to wiggle your toes?

Notice, your ankles, your shins, and calves,

Your knees - the front, back and sides…how does it feel to bend and straighten your knees ever so slightly?

I invite you to notice your thighs - front, back and sides,

Notice your hips, butt, and belly, just below your navel….how does it feel to sway back and forth?

Notice your stomach (above your navel), your ribs and chest - in the front and down your sides,

Then around to your back,

Your lower back, middle and upper back,

Notice your shoulders, down your right arm to your right hand, your left hand and up your left arm….how does it feel to rotate your shoulders and then twist side to side, using your arms to twist?

Finally to your neck and head,

Your neck - the back, sides and front,

And up to your face,

Your jaw, ears, mouth, nose, cheeks, eyes and forehead,

The top of your head and down the sides and the back of your head…how does it feel to let your head look side to side, down and up, ear to shoulder, maybe another shoulder roll?

And now, can you let a wave of light or water start at the top of your head and roll over your whole body, back to your feet on the ground.

And then offer yourself another breath, inhale and exhale, as you honor how you have noticed your body throughout this scan.

How are you doing?

Were you easily distracted? Did you skip over certain parts or feel connected or disconnected to others?

I invite you to journal what came up for you and offer yourself, grace, curiosity, love, gratitude (whatever you need) for your body scan today.

If any trauma came up, can you let it cycle through and out?

(You can use a favorite tool to release trauma here).

(And if you need help with this, please reach out).

Good job for checking in with you today.

Remember, ❤️

You Matter. Your Healing Matters. You Are Worth It!

P.S. The video for this Full Body Scan will be on my socials in the next couple of days, so I invite you to be looking for that. ❤️

When it comes to trauma healing, many people think the goal is to always feel calm. But here’s the truth: healing doesn’t begin with calm—it begins with safety. When the body feels safe enough, it finally has permission to soften, release, and move toward healing. Healing that includes, the grounding, the calm, the intensity, the scary - it includes the range and variety of emotions that being human offers. Safety doesn’t mean nothing hard will come up. It means that when something does rise...

The end of summer can feel like standing between two worlds—lazy days fading behind us and the structure of September routines stretching out ahead. Our nervous system notices this shift. What happens within your system? For many, it stirs up restlessness, overwhelm, or the sense of being pulled in a dozen directions at once. And for others, September feels like a welcome exhale. After months of spontaneity and non-structure, the rhythm of schedules can bring the nervous system relief and...

Healing from trauma can feel like standing at the base of a steep mountain. From down below, the path looks impossible—so far, so high, so exhausting. Maybe you’ve felt that weight: The urge to push through and scramble up as fast as you can, even when your body is pleading for rest. Or the opposite—the collapse and desire to quit before you even begin, because the climb feels too overwhelming to try. And in those moments, two very different voices often show up inside: One says, “Just push...
