I’ve been hearing two very different things from so many women lately: ✨ “Summer feels slower. The schedules ease up. I finally have a little breathing room.” I’m curious — which one sounds more like you right now? ✨ Or is it somewhere in between? Whether this season feels spacious, a bit overwhelming or both, all these experiences can affect the nervous system in very real — but very different — ways. When there’s more space and fewer demands, it can seem like the body finally has room to relax. Which might be just what we need....AND.....with that extra space, emotions or unresolved patterns that have been quietly waiting in the background start to rise up because there’s finally enough safety or stillness for them to be noticed. On the other hand, when summer feels full — with busy schedules, family visiting, kids home all day, or trying to juggle vacations and work — it can feel invigorating and full of the life blood energy that we are craving....AND....it can also stir up a whole different kind of nervous system activation. The constant movement, unpredictability, and interruptions can make it feel like our system never gets a chance to fully settle. Instead of slowing down, it can feel like one more thing gets stacked on top of what was already feeling full, creating a sense of being stretched thin or constantly on edge. This is where I am at.....the life blood energy AND at times, the activation..... And sometimes, it’s not fully one or the other — it’s somewhere in between. There might be days where the schedule feels light and open, but our mind and/or body still feels busy or unsettled. Or days where there’s a rhythm to the routine, but small disruptions or unexpected emotions still catch us off guard. That in-between space can bring its own kind of nervous system wobble — where things look calm on the outside, but inside it’s harder to fully relax or stay present. Any of these states can pull us out of our body’s grounded center, I want to offer a few simple tools you can try depending on where you’re at: If things feel slower right now: If things feel busier than ever: If things feel somewhere in between: You don’t have to “fix” summer to stay steady. But you can offer your body little moments of safety and presence no matter what the schedule looks like. I’d love to hear — how is summer feeling for you right now? Remember, ❤️ You Matter. Your Healing Matters. You Are Worth It! P.S. As I shared on my podcast — "you’re not failing" when these feelings show up. "Your body’s been protecting" you all along, whether things feel slow, busy, or somewhere in between. And you can also decide if you want to keep letting it protect you this way, or rewire and shift things a bit. You can listen to the episode here. |

The end of summer can feel like standing between two worlds—lazy days fading behind us and the structure of September routines stretching out ahead. Our nervous system notices this shift. What happens within your system? For many, it stirs up restlessness, overwhelm, or the sense of being pulled in a dozen directions at once. And for others, September feels like a welcome exhale. After months of spontaneity and non-structure, the rhythm of schedules can bring the nervous system relief and...
Healing from trauma can feel like standing at the base of a steep mountain. From down below, the path looks impossible—so far, so high, so exhausting. Maybe you’ve felt that weight: The urge to push through and scramble up as fast as you can, even when your body is pleading for rest. Or the opposite—the collapse and desire to quit before you even begin, because the climb feels too overwhelming to try. And in those moments, two very different voices often show up inside: One says, “Just push...
In the past week, a few of my clients shared similar experiences with me. During our somatic and/or vagal practices together, each of them felt intense emotions or physical sensations come up. They leaned toward the practice… then backed off. Then leaned in again… then pulled back. Some wondered if they were “doing it wrong.” Others felt a little afraid of what was surfacing. A few thought it was just plain weird. The truth? This is part of the healing journey. What they were doing is...
