Sexual Desire disappeared. Here's what I did next.


Have you ever had a moment (or many moments, for me) where your body has shut down, even when everything should feel safe? Or when you know you’ve done work to create safety and yet the shut down still seems to happen?

Over the last few months, I have found this happening to me, yet again.

After doing so much healing work around reclaiming my sexual desire, arousal and trust within myself…

My body still went numb during a moment of closeness with my husband. No matter how much I wanted to feel open and connected—everything shut off. Well, all the things I had been working on seemed to shut off…..my desire and arousal disappeared, and my body went numb.

I froze.

And in this frozen state, my mind turned to hyper alert mode….

And….I also wasn’t in a complete state of survival freeze because I did have some access to my thinking brain…..

Some things felt the same as in the past, (there were parts of me that wanted to make sure I knew that nothing had changed, and all my healing work was a waste - this is where the "still" energy came from),

And at the same time, some things were much different and other parts of me could sense and feel the truth of that.

  • So what I did next was, first - move from freeze to dissociative sleep, 2nd, jolt awake and had the idea to do a little bit of somatic work to get present. I got a little present then went back to sleep.....

The next day, as I was working through the trauma energy, and working with all those seemingly conflicting parts of myself…..

And I heard the voice of my younger self say:
“This is really hard for me.”

That moment became a window. A way to look deeper at the freeze response and how my body was still trying to protect me—even now.
