Lately, we've had a lot of storms where I live. Which means we've had a lot of cloudy days. And as we move further into fall and toward winter, I've been noticing how much my body misses something. I miss looking up and seeing the contrast of blue and green..... The blue sky against green leaves or green pine needles. (Thankfully, where I live, we have a lot of evergreen trees, so even as we move into winter, we still get some green). There's something about looking up and seeing that blue sky against those green trees that my body really loves. And needs. And I've been thinking about why that is so impactful for me. I think part of it is what those two colors remind me of. Blue is the color of the throat chakra. The chakra connected to our voice, our ability to speak, to express ourselves, and to share what is true for us. Green is the color of the heart chakra. The chakra connected to love. Loving ourselves and loving those around us. And when I see those two colors together, it's a reminder to me that I can use my voice AND come from a place of love. Love for myself. And love for others. That my voice matters. Other people's voices matter too. And we don’t have to agree to have our voices matter. I can consider what others have to say without having to make my decisions based on what they think or feel. And they don’t have to decide based on what I think and feel. I get to decide how I participate in loving myself and loving others. And sometimes that means speaking up. Sometimes it means setting a boundary. Sometimes it means deciding who I want to let in, how much I want to share, and what things I might want to keep just for myself. Not everything needs to be shared. And not everything needs to be kept inside. I get to decide. And I want that decision to come from my true self, my inner wisdom, and a place of love. So what about those days when the blue and green aren't as available?Maybe you live somewhere that has a lot of cloudy days this time of year. Or maybe most of your trees have lost their green leaves. I've been tapping into another tool that helps me connect with what those colors remind me of. Using my own voice through vibration. Humming or OMing. Even when I can't visually see that beautiful blue sky against the green pine needles, I can close my eyes and remember what it looks like (Or go back and look at all the pictures I have taken of it...). And I can use the vibration of my own voice to remind my body that my voice matters. That I matter. And that I can come from a place of loving myself AND others. Here's an invitation to try this with me.Set a timer for 1–3 minutes.
As you do this, I invite you to notice what happens in your body. And maybe get curious about your relationship with your voice. Do you have a hard time using your voice? Or do you sometimes use your voice more than you want to, saying things you wish you hadn't? Or maybe you're somewhere in between. No need to judge any of it. Just notice. And as you continue to hum, can you remember that your voice matters? That you have a right to love and be loved? That you get to decide what boundaries you need, what you want to share, and how you want to participate in your relationships? Maybe there are things you need to say. Maybe there are things you don't need to say. Maybe you share what you are willing to do and let others pick up, or not pick up what’s left (that’s another practice in and of itself) And maybe you are trying to figure all that out. That's part of it too. I love that something as simple as humming can give me an opportunity to reconnect with my voice, my body, and my inner wisdom. To remember that I can use my voice from a place of loving myself while also making room to love others. When I do this…my body offers me clarity. Whether that be that I am living in my body and noticing it…an insight about a thought, or feeling I’ve been working through…or clarity around how I want to show up through actions and energy…. So today, even with the clouds covering up that blue sky against my green evergreen trees, I'm going to take a few minutes to honor my throat chakra and my heart chakra through vibration and see what my body offers me. I invite you to do the same. Because my voice matters. And so does yours. Remember, ❤️ You Matter. Your Healing Matters. You Are Worth It! P.S. Just a heads up....I am changing things up a bit in my business. I don't want to be adding to your junk email. So I am going over who opens and finds these emails helpful to keep on my email list. I've been thinking about the power of AND lately. The idea that two things that seem to contradict each other can actually both be true. And how helpful it can be, especially as we're healing from trauma, to allow ourselves to explore both perspectives instead of feeling like we have to choose one or the other. I want to invite you to try some AND perspectives with me today. And before I share these two perspectives, I'd love for you to take a moment to ground yourself and check in with your...
I saw an Instagram post today where someone was letting their audience know they were going to be gone for a bit, it said, "I'll be in the mountains, writing more content." And....they wouldn't be available to answer questions and would be missing a few posts. It made me think... You would have to think ahead of time to do that. I've missed writing three newsletters and didn't let anybody know...... Partly, because I wasn't ever planning on missing them. And the other part....because I've...
I took a picture of the clouds on my drive today because I was struck by all the different types of clouds. And by all. those. layers. Some dark and heavy. Some white and bright. Some that were beautiful from where I was sitting. And it made me think about the layers I’ve moved through while healing trauma. I’ve gone through layers that felt so dark and black that I thought they might take over. They were scary. And when I was inside them, I didn’t know if I would ever get through them. Other...
